The Leeches

I have been wanting to write a poem for a long time now. The Leeches is my first attempt. I hope those of you who write and read poetry on a regular basis, don’t judge too harshly.

The Leeches is inspired by a movie I saw – Stand By Me

The Leeches

A walk in the woods

The creek loomed before them

Refreshing on a hot day

They did not know

Black jelly like worms stuck to their bodies

All over their arms, legs and torsos

Screams and yells

Pull them off

Remove the suckers

Use your fingernails

‘We need salt,’ one of them shouted

A mad dash back to the hotel

Into the kitchen

Salt on the shelf

Ah thank goodness, kill the buggers
