THE PANTING DOG
The panting dog sits at my feet
It’s tail a wagging, begging a treat
No I say, you sniff like crazy and eat my flowers
Last night you tried sneaking into my shower
You whine all day and snore all night
You hog the heater causing family fights
With no thoughts for others you dribble and drool
You run through the house knocking over chairs and stools
Stop looking at me you hairy mutt
Your sad droopy eyes are driving me nuts
Dreadful it is when you start to howl
But how can I stop that tedious yowl
A drink of water, a bone perhaps
My this dog is clever setting his trap
He starts up the barking, what else can I do
Give in to him… and tomorrow start anew
